Windows finally has the app store it deserves, and Microsoft doesn’t run it

Setting up a fresh Windows PC these days is still old-school for an operating system that runs so much of the corporate world. One app comes from the Microsoft Store, another requires an installer from some random developer’s site, and a third is easiest to install from Terminal. Then, once everything is installed, many of those apps bring along their own background updater and start pestering you separately.
