Comcast’s Xfinity Shield turns your router into a motion sensor — and it may share what it sees

Typically, your Wi-Fi router sits in one corner and does one job: connecting your devices to the internet. Comcast now wants it to help protect your home as well. The company has launched Xfinity Shield, a new platform that promises to combine cybersecurity, home, and family protection in one app, using compatible Xfinity gateways.
